Discrepancy handling needs workflow

An inventory discrepancy is a finding that needs review. Editing the register immediately can erase the evidence needed to understand it later.

Record the asset identifier, what was observed and the context of the check. A missing item, a changed location and a condition difference require different follow-up.

If the identity is uncertain, keep that uncertainty visible. A guessed asset match can attach the finding to the wrong record.

Name the role responsible for investigating the finding and define what information is needed before it can be resolved. Keep the original observation accessible while the review proceeds.

Resolution should explain the action taken, not simply remove the item from a list. Some differences may remain unresolved at the reporting cutoff and should be represented accordingly.
